History

The Mark Francis Band first took its shape in 2005 with the purpose to lead worship at multiple churches and youth events in the Winchester, VA area. Led by Mark Francis, the band has always had a rotation of high quality musicians over the years, with the ability to play various styles within the appropriate context of the worship setting. The band is best known for its high-energy, contemporary Christian rock sound as they play a mix of hymns, modern worship songs, and original tunes.

The band recorded its first album in 2009 called “Holy Offering”. The compilation of musicians on the CD adds to the unique character of the sound. The album has spread nationally as well as globally, reaching radio stations in Mexico, France, and The Netherlands. CDs have also reached churches in India, Thailand, South Africa and many others around the world. Best known for the original song “Glorified”, which topped the charts at #1 on the KBCU radio station’s Saturday evening “Top 20” countdown in early 2011, the band continues to write original music. “Being able to write songs that the common church-goer can sing in a worship setting is a key goal of our band”, says Mark Francis. “Connecting with God through singing is commanded all throughout scripture – and we want to be able to give fresh expressions of worship with our music, revealing ideas about who God is and what He has done for us.”

The Mark Francis Band continues to play in the Northern Virginia area on a regular basis. Youth events, young adult ministry services, multi-church rallies, Sunday morning services, church conferences and outdoor festivals are just some of the locations where the band has been found. The band continually seeks opportunities to expand playing outside of its home region to reach its ever-spreading CD fan base.
